Perfectly Flawed

This entire post by @myleik is so #powherful. It reminds me of a conversation I keep with me forever. A little over 10 years ago I began a very intimate spiritual journey, sisterhood, and divine connection with one of my greatest teachers, Pastor @melvalynnhenderson. I had never met anyone like her. She is fly, funny, brilliant, talented, an author, teacher, preacher, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and walks in her anointing and LOVE in a way that makes you better just from being near her. I am not usually star struck but the fact that God was allowing me to build a close relationship with this woman had my head all in the clouds. I finally decided to invite her to lunch, expecting nothing in return. I just wanted to treat her to a pleasant afternoon as gratitude for her being in my life. That day she said something to me that I will never forget. She told me to never lose sight of her humanity despite her title and position. A decade later, I have built a much more public brand where people seek me out and have expectations and perceptions of me that I often don’t know about...and could probably never measure up too...I lean on Pastor Melva’s words often. I may be gifted, but I’m still very much human, not infallible, and will make plenty of mistakes. Perfection is never gonna happen and I will never pretend it can. I’m also allowed to be a brilliant masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time and so are you!

Xoxo,

Chaun
